Visit the European Hansemuseum, revel in the UNESCO World Heritage surroundings where you can breathe history, discover art and culture in unexpected places and experience Lübeck's elixir of life, the waterways of the Hanseatic city to the Baltic Sea!
After a nice breakfast by the Trave River in Lübeck, in the shadow of Museum Holstentor, it's time for a drift south along green country roads. After some quiet days in Lübeck, you can either take a few days in Hamburg, or avoid it altogether. But we would recommend a quick visit - which might easily turn into a few unforgettable days of fun, adventure and entertainment.
Every summer, 50,000 motorbikers roll into the beautiful Hanseatic city of Hamburg for a weekend gathering of live music and great fun at the Harley Village. Hamburg Harley Days gathers motorbikers from across Europe and beyond. Over 600,000 people visit Europe’s largest inner-city motorbike event, each year.
The Harley® Village at the wholesale market is the home base for the many participants in the event. Harley riders and enthusiasts experience a unique mix of petrol-fueled expo, fun and entertainment. Riders can share the latest news over freshly-drafted beers and meals from dozens of good food outlets. Over 100 shops offer everything Harley-Davidson, from apparel and accessories to parts and custom motorcycles. In addition to the official Harley dealers, you will find a lot of clothing and accessories for the cult brand Harley-Davidson®
The programme is action-packed with shows and live music. Raw live music acts play in different bars and stages. Rock’n’roll and metal artists from around the globe perform live on stage each day, complete with spectacular firework displays on Friday and Saturday. Riders challenge the Wall of Death in an oversized wooden barrel in which motorcycle artists perform breathtaking stunts at full speed.
This is also the starting point for the HD demo rides and the big parade on Sunday, as well as new content and surprises. The best is yet to come! On Sunday, the traditional motorcycle parade has everyone out on the streets of Hamburg to witness the truly spectacular conclusion of this spectacular and unforgettable event.
On the way south, ride through Schaalsee UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, located in the Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northern Germany.
Covering an area of 30,257 hectares, a special characteristic of this relatively small area is the diverse landscape with a variety of habitats. It is characterized by semi-natural ecosystems of woods, bogs, lakes and dry sites. The Schaalsee itself is a lake originating as a glacial tongue basin from the Weichsel glacial period.
Due to the physiographic conditions, the overlap between continental and Atlantic climate influences, and the lack of disturbance over several decades due to its location on the inner-German border (until November 1989), the region has a diverse range of near-natural ecosystems and is species-rich in both flora and fauna. Near-natural ecosystem types exist here in characteristic forms in its forests, (raised) bogs and lakes. The presence of Atlantic geoelements in the broad sense means that the Schaalsee region is a good example of the Central Baltic beech wood area, which is the representative biome type for temperate broad-leaf forests/woodlands in Northern Central Europe.
Harley-Davidson® have been producing motorcycles for nearly 120 years, and the next big celebration is in 2023.
Back in the year of Our Lord, 1903, four young men in a small shed in Milwaukee lit a cultural wildfire that would spread across continents, geographies and generations. Their innovation and imagination for what was possible on two wheels sparked a transportation revolution and lifestyle that would eventually make Harley-Davidson one of the most desirable motorcycle two-wheeled transportation devices in the world. One of them. H-D have definitely managed to generate a great atmosphere around their products, and the events are a gathering point for people form all walks of life, sharing a common passion for an exciting life on two wheels.

You sould also take some time to visit The German Tank Museum in Munster. Quite an eye-opener. Their mission statement describes the museum and its mission and values:
"The Deutsches Panzermuseum deals with the history of German tanks from their origins in the 19th century to the present, a topic of great relevance: organized violence is one of the most important topics in history; mechanized violence is a central theme of the 20th and 21st centuries. The DPM is the only museum with this thematic focus in Germany.
The Deutsches Panzermuseum shows vehicles and weapons as essential exhibits. This collection is one of the best in the world. The Deutsches Panzermuseum is a civil-military cooperation that is very closely interlinked: the exhibition draws on two collections, that of the German Armed Forces and that of the city of Munster. Collecting and storing the vehicles and weapons is the primary task of the Bundeswehr carrier; The City of Munster is responsible for organizing and running the museum."
Their mission statement continues:
"The Deutsches Panzermuseum deals with a topic that is located at the national and international level. This is reflected in the sphere of activity of the museum, which attracts visitors from all over Germany and abroad and sees itself explicitly as a "museum for everyone". The Deutsches Panzermuseum is not a hall of fame and not a place of tradition. The Deutsches Panzermuseum is not a memorial and not a place for mourning. There is just as little room for the glorification of military values and practices as for the trivialization of war, suffering, violence and death. The Deutsches Panzermuseum is not an anti-war museum. Disparagement of military values and practices has just as little place as the propagation of pacifism."
