La Costa Cálida is calling - what are you waiting for? This spectacular area will stimulate your senses with magnificent scenery, jagged coastlines, great mountain roads, barren deserts, castles, warm weather, deep history, a strong and vibrant local culture, friendly people, sunshine, fun, flames, Flamenco, and many great local dishes and wines… and that's just for starters...
Discover this great region on our 8-day EXPLORE MURCIA tour, and form your own good impressions, experiences, friendships and memories.
The region of Murcia has been inhabited for more than 2,000 years, yet the capital, Murcia, was not founded until 831, when the Emir of Cordoba, Abderraman II, commissioned a walled city on the banks of the Segura River and turned it into the Caliphate of Murcia. A city of Arab origin, Murcia rests within this fertile plain, surrounded by a chain of mountains, and dissected by the river Segura. The entire region of Murcia and the Costa Cálida has many great jewels and experiences, just waiting for you to discover.
Spend the evenings floating around the centre of Murcia, and take in the many impressions you’ll find here. The town of Murcia has a lot to offer visitors, whether you want to delve into it’s interesting history, or sample some of the local culture, meet the people, or do some shopping while you’re here.
The gastronomy of Murcia is based on the flavour-filled fruit and vegetables that come from the fertile region surrounding the city. Casseroles and typical dishes of the area are made with these raw materials. Dishes like Pisto Huertano (fried vegetables, with pepper, onion and tomato), Chickpea and Swiss chard stew and Zarangollo. To accompany your meal, you can choose from the great wines from the Murcian region: Bullas, Yecla and Jumilla.
