Stakeriet - Nordic Gourmet tapas

As we all know, no motorcycle expedition or arctic experience is complete without tasting the local food, and you should try the best that Nordic cuisine has to offer. Stakeriet Food and Wine Bar is Inspired by Nordic and international cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, food and traditional recipes infused with an international touch.

We always have an evening or two at Stakeriet when we're in Alta, to see what kind of new and exciting dishes the have dreamed up! Traditions and traditional foods and dishes are something we take seriously, and Stakeriet consequently delivers new, innovative, exciting and fresh treasures from the sea and the surrounding hinterland. You have to try some of their gastronomic innovations!

Welcome to the Arctic Table

Æventyr's restaurants and bars focus on providing quality gastronomic experiences using local arctic raw materials - meat, fish, water, herbs, vegetables and berries, which are often considered to be the best of their kind on the planet.

Inspiration from everywhere

Their employees are comprised of over 15 different nationalities and consequently their kitchens are also infused and inspired by international trends. Combined with good local ingredients, talented local and international chefs, warm, polite and attentve staff, innovative dishes in authentic natural surroundings, the result is an culinary experience you will remember. Experience Alta through food and history

Showcasing local history and heritage is important to Æventyr and Stakeriet, and they want visitors to experience their history through their décor and food, so the concept behind Stakeriet is to honor Alta's long history around the Alta River and centuries of local slate production.

Alta Slate and the local Industrial Heritage

Alta Slate played an important part in local history, and is a decorative stone sought after and used in the entire world. In honor of this, Stakeriet created a private venue room decorated with slate, tools and photos from the Slate history. This private room, Skiferstua, can be booked for private meetings and venues up to 20 people, for family gatherings, motorcycle tour groups, adventure tour groups, teambuilding or corporate events, or just a group of friends looking for an intimate and authentic gastronomic experience.

The Salmon of Alta and The King of Norway

During the 18th century and the early years of tourism in Alta, wealthy tourists came here to experience the summer and to fish in the famous Alta River, which is known for its very high-quality salmon. These wealthy tourists hired guides known as 'Stakere' to take them up the Alta River to the best fishing places. These guides inspired the name for the restaurant, and in their honor it was named after them: "Stakeriet".

In fact, the diagonal line cutting through the logos of Æventyr, Stakeriet, Alattio, Gabo Bar and Canyon Hotell signify the long oar or paddle that the Stakere used to navigate the Alta River with.

These days, even the Norwegian king visits Alta River every summer to start the fishing season.

Almost mystically inspired by Nordic and international gastronomic culture, Stakeriet lets you experience all the fantastic dishes contained in the vast repertoire of Nordic Cuisine, by combining locally sourced food and traditional recipes with an international touch - in one unforgettable meal. They also have a great selection of local and international craft beers, and can magic up an interesting Arctic cocktail before you even learn how to pronounce "Æventyr".

Couple this with some great company in cosy surroundings and you are reminded that nothing is like a good laugh over a good meal, and a great night out.

Table Reservations for your Motorcycle Group

Online table reservations close at 16.00 each day. If you want to book a table for your entire motorcycle tour group (8+ people), it's a good idea to contact Stakeriet well in advance, and they should be able to accommodate you for a fantastic night to remember! It's evenings like these that become the highpoints of any motorcycle ride, and the ones that are etched into your memory, for years.
